El Reno, OK

Up until Oklahoma City opened its modern streetcar system, El Reno has the only streetcar system running in the state of Oklahoma since 2001.

I visited El Reno in June of 2021, but the "Heritage Express" was not running. The Streetcar was locked up tight in its small carbarn. But I did go down all the streets it operates.

The line uses an ex-Philadelphia & Western Strafford car. The car was converted to street loading and a diseal generator was added to provide electrical power.

The car gives tours around the town. El Reno did have interurban service to Oklahoma City from 1911 to 1947.
