Hiroshima is in southern Honshu along the ocean. Hiroshima is infamously known for being the first city destroyed by an atomic bomb during WWII. From the ashes the streetcar system was one of the first items rebuilt. In fact Hiroshima is the last large city in Japan that has not scrapped their streetcar system for a metro.  In fact they have upgraded its vast network. Hiroshima, however has built a rubber-tired light metro to areas not served by streetcars to the north/east of the city.
