Japanese Mainline Railroads
Shinkansen (Bullet) Trains

This is what makes Japan famous, the Bullet Trains. Shinkansen translates into "New Trunk Line" (trunk meaning main). Westerner's have coined the trains "Bullets" from the original '0' series equipment styling. They are the best way to get around Japan! These are great trains to ride. The webmaster has been on all the lines radiating out of Tokyo and the Sanyo Shinkansen. The remaining lines are the Kyushu and the Akita and Yamagata lines.

These pages are broken up by route.

If you like Japanese railroading consider joining the Japanese Railway Society.
