Kyoto Subways

Kyoto

Kyoto has two subway lines. The original Kamasuma Line opened in 1981 heading north-south. In the mid-1990's the Tozai line opened heading east-west through town, then heading south. Both lines spelled demise to surface running streetcars and interurbans in Kyoto. But both move people faster and more efficiently.
