Joban Line

The Joban line officially starts at Nippori in Tokyo, although all train continue to Ueno. There is a project to extend trains to Tokyo and through route with the Tokaido Line.

* Most of the commuter trains section ends at Toride, although many services continue beyond. The Joban continues much further north re-joining the Tohoku mainline before Sendai. But for purposes here we are only covering the Toride-Ueno portion. For north of Toride, see the JR Mainline Joban page
